What your stools are telling you

Bristol Stool Chart.

Bristol Stool Chart.

If you have seen me clinic, you will be familiar with the Bristol stool chart.

I ask my clients to rate their stools from type 1(top) to type 7(bottom). This give me valuable information about your digestive system and what may be going on inside your body.

But what I discover in consultations is many clients don’t know what type their stools are because they never check!

I like to think of our bowel motions as daily report cards.

Types 1-2 could means your constipated and need in increase water or fibre.

Types 3-4 are what we consider normal, healthy poops πŸ‘Œ

Types 5-6 are loose bowel motions that means you may need to bulk the stools with fibre or have food sensitivities.

Type 7, something is really not right and can mean there is an infection or pathogen in the digestive tract.

Undigested food, blood or mucus all needs to be investigated as well as how often, colour and smell.

So come chat about your stools with me in clinic and get familiar with your poops, they are yours! πŸ’©
